Pre-Visit Information
We trust you are looking forward to your stay with us at the Rough and Tumble Bush Lodge. Following is some important information regarding your stay. Please take a moment to understand the information, and, should you have any questions, please get in touch with us.
Check in/out times
Your room will be available to check in from 3.00pm. Our café is open from 11am, so you are welcome to arrive earlier than the 3pm check-in time and grab something to eat and drink with us.
If you expect to arrive after 6:45pm, please let us know in advance so we can make appropriate arrangements to check you in as our staff head off-site for the evening at 7:00pm. Also note that as dinner is served at 6pm, any arrivals after this time will need to make their own dinner arrangements elsewhere.
Your check-out time is 10.00am, to allow us enough time to tidy up for the next guests.
Food
Café: Our café is open to the public most days, serving our range of house-made pizza, West Coast Pie Company pies, and other delights.

Pre-bookings are essential for this meal, so if you have not already booked, please ensure you contact us to do so. If you have not booked we will presume you have made dinner arrangements elsewhere.

Dietary requirements: Please ensure that we are aware of any dietary requirements your group may have prior to your arrival. We can cater to any requirements you may, but it is essential we are aware in advance so that we can prepare.

How to find us
The Rough and Tumble Bush Lodge is a 50km drive north of Westport. From State Highway 67, follow the sign to ‘Seddonville’ and ‘The Old Ghost Road’. If you cross the long one-way bridge across the Mokihinui River you have gone too far. Proceed straight through Seddonville (straight past the blue Seddonville Hotel – do not turn right here), and straight past the farmhouse at the end of Mokihinui Road. You will be on a gravel road for 1.7km before reaching a concrete bridge/ford at Burke Creek. Cross the Burke Creek Ford and follow the signs to the lodge, 800m further on. Allow 45 minutes to comfortably reach the lodge from Westport. Note: There are no petrol stations between Westport and the Rough and Tumble; you may wish to fill your tank in Westport.
On rare occasions when there has been very heavy rain, the concrete ford at Burke Creek can become temporarily impassable. Please don’t cross the bridge/ford if the water is overtopping the bridge deck. Drive back to mobile coverage in Seddonville and give us a call.
